Welcome to the new Australian Ice Skating site. The site was created on Sun 13th April 2008 and is undergoing a thorough process of building, checking and rebuilding to make sure it meets the highest standards of usability.
If you've arrived here hoping to see a fully fledged site 100% fully operational, we can only apologise. We've let the site go 'live' to demonstrate that it *is* here, it *is* being developed and *is* expected to become *the* premier site for discussion about, and information on, Ice Skating in Australia.
Currently content is being added covering location of rinks and times of opening, the location of professional coaches and their contact information, and of course the various disciplines within ice skating in Australia.
Features in the process of installation include a user forum, shoutbox, event calendars, user blogs, gallery and such like. The purpose is to give you a unified central site where everything and anything to do with ice skating in Australia can be found and discussed.
The site is 'non-profit making' so there'll be no hard sell to encourage you to buy anything, or contribute anything to it's upkeep. Feel free to join the site, and importantly, make suggestions about it's development and/or content. You are even welcome to join in with the configuration if you've such a mind.
Ultimately this is intended to be a site for you to enjoy. It it does that... then it will have served its purpose. Please bear with us during this exciting period of construction! |

Something to remember when you work through the site as it develops is that we are all volunteers. We're building the site for you in our spare time for your benefit so *please* try to bear with us through the process. I know it can be frustrating when things don't appear to be working as you'd like, or moving as fast as you'd like but do you remember how hard it was when you started skating... well it's the same for us! :) |

This as you'll have gathered is a call for assistance. Apart from the obvious need for people familiar with the inner working of Joomla 1.5 who can assist in setting the site up, we desperately need *CONTENT*. What is content? Articles, stories, comments about ice-skating in general or in particular. You could send in articles about the way your state organisation works, or simple how you started skating. You could send in the CV's of your coaches... or some pictures of yourself or others in action. Pretty much we want anything you have about your favourite sport because if it interests *you* it interests *us*. Contact details will be added in a few minutes so if you want to be a founder part of the site... get to it! :) |

You might ask just what *is* 'The Code'? Well we're not pirates so our code isn't every man for himself and devil take the hindmost. Basically our code is simple and constitutes the main 'rule' of the site. Which is?? The main rule, and therefore 'the code' is "Play Nice". Simple eh? All we ask is that you treat others (and us) in here as you'd want to be treated yourself. Please show respect to individuals, especially newbies. We all have to start somewhere and not everyone is as au fait in certain areas as in others. |

Forum software is installed and ready for use. You may find a few quirks in registering/posting/using it. If so... let us know so we can fix it. Either way this means the site... is open for business! This is really getting exciting.  |
